This place is great! Homey feel, not big but has homemade food! I typically get a sandwich (Black Russian) and a side cole slaw or potato salad. Never had a bad meal here. Servers are friendly and attentive. The prices are fair for the quality. I love this rarely go downriver without stopping here.

Pipers is very good. They have awesome Pot Pies (huge) and the Orange Roughy is good and that mile high chocolate cake is sooo good!

I've been to Pipers a few times. The soups are very good! I really like the white chicken chili. I have also had the southwest chicken salad very good served with a mexi salsa ranch, a very generous portion. With that being said they are a bit pricey for the type of place they are. A family of 4 can plan on dropping at least 50 bucks. There is a saving app you can text to check in and you get 5.00 off after you've spent 50.00 kinda a buggy type app and kind of a pain but it is something....

Pipers has been a staple in the Flat Rock area for many many years. It was the perfect place for a visit with old friends. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich with fries. The sides aren't included with the sandwiches so you have to order separate side items. The sandwich was really good. It is nicely toasted with plenty of filling. The turkey is piled high with fresh avocado. Delightful! I also split some of the Neapolitan Cake with the girls. It was so beautiful from afar that I couldn't take my eyes off of it. Well, the cake part was good but the frosting was not the best. It really looked better than it tasted. Very unfortunate. Our waitress was just ok. We had to ask a few times for drink refills. After she dropped off our bill she didn't come back. We still wanted to order dessert after our meals. We had to flag her down for our additional food order. Lucky for her we were honest enough to pay for the desserts even though she forgot to charge us for them. Even though Pipers has been there for years, I think it's time to revamp the dining area. Really needs updating. I do think there are some better options in the area with better service and food.

Good breakfast. Their raisin French toast is excellent.

So tonight I was in the mood for a sandwich so the wife and I checked out this place tonight it was about 6PM on a Friday. We walk in the place and I'm thinking that I'm seeing an old country style place. We were greeted right away and seated. I don't always go with the specials but it was Clam soup and a crusted Salmon. I tried the soup and I enjoyed it. We also ordered some Southwest eggrolls that had good flavor. I had the Turkey Avocado sandwich and when I took my first bite of the food I totally forgot about how the place is outdated with the decor. My wife had the chicken pot pie. She said was one of the best she ever had. The waitress was at our table non stop asking if we needed anything. Now most of the crowd in here were senior citizens but I would suggest that a younger crowd should check this place out. The food was really good.

The food is amazing. It is expensive, but as a special treat, it is 100% worth it. The service is all right. Everyone has an off day, I guess. The Italian sub is wonderful and so are the garlic parm fries.

Pipers holds a special place in my heart because this is the place where Mom and I most often ate after her chemo treatments. The waitresses recognized us and asked how Mom was doing. The consistent comfort food was a much needed hug. Their chicken pot pie kicks ass. You can get it to go too. I also enjoy their chicken salad in fruit with their fun little quick bread side. Fried chicken basket is nice also.

Pipers has been around for many many years, and the food has slowly gone from average to below average. You can only cut corners so much before it starts diminishing the quality of the end product. Pipers used to be 24/7 and had a booming "bar rush" business. They are no longer open all night. The food slide began with the onset of the oversized black plates and huge chunks of fruit as a garnish on nearly everything. Stick with breakfast. The waitstaff seems miserable. All I can say is the fish rots from the head down.

Two things I love, love, love about Pipers: 1. The little chicken drumsticks. Perfection 2. The table-top jukeboxes. In the last 29 years, I've dropped at least a college semester's tuition into them. Other good picks: lasagna, fries, or chicken. Stay away from: spaghetti (you can get the same thing from Chef Boyardee)

I live down the street and over the years I have watched the quality of food go down hill, the last meal we had was the chicken picnic and it was so bland and over cooked, it seemed like they are catering to the Seniors with special diets hate to say it but we will not be going back

I came here the other week with a friend that is from New Boston. We settled on this place because we are broke. I mean really really broke and this place is pretty darn cheap. The food at this place is okay. It's not spectacular, but it's not terrible. I mean to be fair you really are getting what you are paying for. Our waitress had quite a bit of attitude. We were the only younger people in this place at the time, but we are also 27, so in comparison to the +65 crowd we are young. We had the exact same meals to even make the waitresses job easier. We learned that asking for coffee is apparently a big pain in the arse to ask for. It took us over 5 minutes to get the coffee. I had to also ask for them a second time. In between asking for them our waitress went back to the two other tables she was waiting on -- twice. That was slightly irritating. Either way if you are in the area and need a cheap breakfast meal I would say this place is as good as any. I mean, really, how many different ways can you cook an egg breakfast? It's pretty hard to screw that up.

The BEST chicken pot pie I've ever had! Every time I go here I try to order something else but I just can't do it, the pot pie is my favorite & I drive over a half hour to get it. You can also buy them to take home & cook on your own but of course they don't turn out the same as when you order them in the restaurant. They have a large menu so if chicken pot pie isn't your thing you'll definitely be able to find something. The restaurant is on the small side so you may have to wait for a table but it's totally worth it.

WTF? Chicken fried steak made with an un-tenderized steak, FRIED in fish batter with runny gravy? Not even funny.

Great place for breakfast. Also, I love the fact that it is totally non-smoking. You just can't beat that (until Michigan gets with the rest of country and forces it). The chicken pot pies are great. The salads are huge and tasty. I also think the Canadian Cheddar Soup they have on Saturday is wonderful. The huge chocolate cake is great too.

I visited Pipers for lunch for the first time on recommendation from a friend. On a Thursday noon-ish there were only 6 or so tables full. The hostess was very friendly and our waiter was nice and attentive. The atmosphere was cute, clean and attractive. That's where the good aspects end. I ordered the chicken salad on croissant. It came out in record time. The croissant was cold from the fridge, soft and mushy. Not even remotely flakey. The chicken was dry and in such large chunks that I had to open up the sandwich and eat it with my fork. The "mandarin slices" were so dry and old I couldn't chew them, and I think I had one or two little walnut pieces total. The dressing was the most bland i have ever tasted -- if i had to guess I would say it was low fat mayonnaise and nothing else. Not even salt. The kitchen was generous with the leaf lettuce; a single redeeming quality of the meal. The sandwich was also served with a slice of tasteless cantaloupe. In February. I wonder why it didn't taste good. I was still hungry because I couldn't finish my sandwich, and thought a piece of pie would be good. But when I asked, the waiter informed me the pies are from Gordon's. Yuck. I passed. I guess I should have tried the chicken pot pie, but don't think I will be going back. Pretty disappointing food experience, even for downriver.
